TV Chat Profile Dialog
The TV Chat Profile dialog allows you to set the TV Chat service visual options.
To display the TV Chat Profile dialog, click Profile button in the Options tab of the TV Chat Setup dialog.
Use Profile button to load or save the profile options to the file.
General tab
Options
- Type lets you select the type of the chat.
- Text align lets you select the alignment of the text in the chat.
- Scroll speed lets you specify the speed at which the chat text will scroll. If you set the speed to 0, there will be no scrolling of the text and only one message will be displayed on the screen.
- Smooth lets you specify whether the scrolling of the text should be smooth.
- Hold message lets you specify the minimum amount of time each message will be held on the screen upon entering the chat. Note that you may enter a decimal value in this field.
- Scroll out specifies whether the text should continue to scroll even when there are no more messages waiting to enter the chat screen.
- Maximum number of visible messages lets you specify the maximum number of messages which can be displayed at the same time.
- Spacing lets you specify the spacing between messages. Note that you may enter a decimal value in this field.
- Random spacing lets you specify the maximum amount of random spacing which will be added between messages. Note that you may enter a decimal value in this field.
Formatting
- Text allows you to enter the format with which the message will be formatted before entering the chat. While composing the format of the text you can use TV Chat Text Parameters,
Message Text Parameters, and Global Text Parameters.
For example, you may use the following format: [%Phone%] > %Text%.
- Phone allows you to enter the format with which the phone number will be formatted. The phone format may contain the following parameters:

%Sn% - The specified number of digits (n) should be skipped.

%Dn% - The specified number of digits (n) should be displayed.

%Ln% - The specified number of last digits (n) should be displayed.

%xn% - The specified number of digits (n) should be replaced with the specified character (x).
Examples:
The phone format %S2%(0%D2%) %*3%-%D4% will format the phone number
+1234567890 in the following way
(023) ***-7890. Note that this
format will format +123456789 in this way
(023) ***-789.
The phone format %S2%(0%D2%)
%S3%%*4%-%L3% may be useful in situations where phone numbers may have
different number of digits and you wish to always display the last three
digits and appropriate number of asterisks. This format will format the phone number
+1234567890 in the following way
(023) ****-890, the phone
number +123456789 like this
(023) ***-789, and the phone
number +12345678 like this
(023) **-678.
- Adjust white spaces specifies whether the white spaces (blanks, tabs, new lines...) should be adjusted before the text enters the chat.
- Preserve line breaks specifies whether to preserve the line breaks while adjusting the white spaces.
- Truncate text if longer than lets you specify the maximum number of characters to display.
Display tab
Font
- Lets you specify the properties of the font used by the chat. In addition to the standard properties of the font, you may also select an effect to apply.
Text placement
- Lets you specify the relative placement of the chat text in the chat area. Note that you may enter decimal values in these fields.
- Show text frame lets you display the frame in which the text is displayed. This frame is only visible while the TV Chat Profile dialog is opened.
Background
- Color lets you specify the background color of the chat.
- Bitmaps lets you specify the background picture displayed under the chat text. Note that the background picture will be stretched to the size of the chat area. Use selection ( ... ) button to browse for the single background bitmap
file. To select more than one bitmap file, use standard wildcard
characters asterisk ( * ) and question mark ( ? ), for example: C:\Backgrounds\*.bmp.
- Cycle bitmaps every N frames/milliseconds/seconds/minutes/hours lets you specify that you wish selected bitmaps to automatically cycle in regular time intervals.
- Remove bitmap after N seconds of inactivity lets you specify that you wish the background bitmap to be removed after the specified period of chat inactivity.
Advanced tab
Moderator
- Phone lets you specify the phone used for messages entered
by the moderator.
- Use format lets you specify the format for messages entered by the moderator. If this option is not selected the moderator messages will be formatted by using the format specified in the General tab.
- Use color lets you specify the color used to draw messages entered by the moderator.
Pictures
- Show pictures lets you specify whether you wish to display pictures associated with messages.

Pattern lets you enter the pattern used to make the path to the bitmap file. This field can contain TV Chat Text Parameters,
Message Text Parameters, and Global Text Parameters. For example, if you have a PictureName note in the Address
Book containing the picture file names associated to contacts, then you can use a pattern like this D:\Pictures\%MsgFromPictureName% to display the picture of the contact who sent the message.
- Left, Top, Width and Height lets you specify the position and the size of the picture in pixels.
Separator
- Show lets you specify whether you wish to display a separator between scrolling messages. Use selection ( ... ) button to browse for the separator bitmap file.
- Width and Height lets you specify the width and the height of the separator in pixels.
- Align lets you select the alignment of the separator in the chat screen.
- Transparent color lets you specify the color which will be treated as transparent when drawing separator.
Full Screen tab
Placement
- Left, Top, Width and Height let you specify the position and the size of the part of the Windows desktop on which the chat will be displayed in the full screen mode. Use Monitors button to quickly set the position and the size when you want the chat to
occupy the entire screen of one of the monitors.
Transparency
- Opacity lets you specify the level of opacity of the chat graphics when rendered over the Windows desktop.
- Transparent background color lets you specify whether the chat background color should be treated as transparent when rendering chat graphics over the Windows desktop.
Bitmaps
- Lets you select the bitmaps which can be displayed in the full screen mode. Note that the pictures will be stretched to the size of the full screen area. Use selection ( ... ) buttons to browse for the pictures.
