ABCD Voting

In this topic we will create a voting service that accepts A, B, C and D letters as votes.

  1. Make sure that there are no active connections in the  Connections window.
  2. Click the  New button on the main toolbar.
  3. Choose Voting service from the list of available services and click the OK button.
  4. Click the  Setup button on the main toolbar to display the Voting Setup dialog.
  5. In the General tab of the Voting Setup dialog click the  Add button.
  6. In the Add Item dialog in the Name field enter A, in the Pattern field enter A and click the Add + button. The new item is added and the dialog is cleared to let you enter new item. Type B in the Name field, type B in the Pattern field and click the Add + button. Repeat this procedure to enter C and D. Click the Cancel button to close the Add Item dialog. In the Answers table you can now see four answers, namely A, B, C and D.
  7. Click the OK button to close the Voting Setup dialog.
  8. Create and connect a new Emulator connection of the type Quiz (A-D), with cleared Include prefix option and Speed set to Slow.
  9. Use the  Start and  Stop buttons on the main toolbar to start and stop the service. While the service is stopped it does not receive any new messages.
  10. Activate the  Voting Inbox window to see the messages received by Voting service. Make sure that the service is started to see the messages arriving.
  11. Activate the  Voting Results window to see the incoming votes and the voting chart.
  12. Press the F9 key to display the chart in the full screen mode. Press the F9 key again to return back to the chart preview.
  13. In the  Voting Results window click the Edit Profile option from the Tools menu to display the Voting Profile dialog. In this dialog you can configure the visual appearance of the chart.
  14. Click the  Close button on the main toolbar to close the service.
